Here’s everything that was announced during the Nintendo Direct 2026 Event

The first Nintendo Direct 2026 is officially in the books. As promised, this was a Partner Showcase, which means Nintendo stepped aside to let third-party developers take the wheel for thirty minutes. The stream was a rapid-fire mix of brand-new Switch 2 reveals and long-awaited release dates for the original hardware.

While we did not see any Mario or Zelda, the sheer volume of “heavy” games coming to the new console shows that publishers are finally able to bring their biggest projects to a Nintendo handheld without the massive technical compromises of the past.

Capcom opened the show with a deep look at Resident Evil: Requiem. This is the first major AAA horror title to launch day-and-date on a Nintendo console alongside other platforms. The footage shown on the Switch 2 looked remarkably sharp, focusing on the dual-protagonist gameplay featuring Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft.

They also confirmed that the “Resident Evil Generation Pack,” which includes Gold Editions of Resident Evil 7 and Village, will arrive the same day. It is a massive win for fans who have wanted native, non-cloud versions of these games on the go.

The middle of the showcase was dominated by Bethesda and FromSoftware. We finally got a release date for the Switch 2 version of Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, which had been a persistent rumor for weeks. FromSoftware also made a rare appearance to provide an update on The Duskbloods, their Switch 2-exclusive PvPvE title.

While they did not give a specific day yet, they confirmed it is still on track for late 2026 and showed off new mechanics involving the game’s unique jetpack and magic systems. It is easily one of the most visually impressive games currently slated for the hardware.

Nintendo Direct 2026 also gave us new ports and remasters

Square Enix brought the nostalgia with a formal launch trailer for Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined, which is actually available starting today. They followed that up by confirming the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth port for Switch 2, slated for a holiday 2026 window.

This was to be expected after the the strong sales of the first remake on the system seemingly gave Square Enix the motivation they needed to go all in on the new hardware. We also saw a quick “shadow drop” for Storm Lancers, a high-octane indie shooter that appeared on the eShop the moment the Direct ended.

Xbox Game Studios continues its partnership with Nintendo, officially dating Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for the Switch 2. The game looks surprisingly close to its series X counterpart, likely utilizing the Switch 2’s AI upscaling to maintain its cinematic look.

Another notable mention was Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, which received a new story trailer and a narrowed release window. It has been quiet for a while, so seeing it in motion was a relief for long-time fans of the series.

The show closed with a montage of smaller titles and ports, including the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection and a native Switch 2 edition of Stardew Valley. The latter is less about graphics and more about significantly faster load times and the ability to handle massive, complex farms without the frame rate dipping. It was a dense thirty minutes that focused entirely on the present and the immediate future of the library.
